This prototype uses FTEQW to render Quake II in your browser. FTEQW is licensed under GPL version 2 or later.

Quake II game data is separate from the engine source. The optional demo download is the unchanged original Quake II 3.14 demo archive, © id Software. The browser verifies the archive and extracts its original PAK and male/female player assets on your device. The Windows installer is never executed.
Original demo license · Original readme · Installed license · Installed readme · Complete original archive
The demo download is about 39 MB and may be cached in browser storage. Clear this website’s browsing data to remove that cache. It contains only demo assets; additional maps, skins, models and other resources come from the asset mirror, server downloads or your local files. Retail game data and the 3.20 update are not bundled.
Your own PAK files take precedence over the demo. Files selected from your device are not uploaded.
Missing maps, textures, models, player skins, sounds and pictures requested by the engine are fetched on demand from the q2jump.net Jump archive through this site's HTTPS asset relay. The upstream archive uses HTTP. Files already available locally are reused; a missing mirror file falls back to the game server's download system. The mirror is incomplete and some servers use different map versions. Select a matching local map if needed.
Website controls are designed for spectating. The game server remains responsible for permissions, chat rules and observer enforcement.
The interface uses Geist and Geist Mono by Vercel, distributed with their SIL Open Font License. The Q2Jump logo was supplied with the design handoff.
